Peace and Justice and the Integrity of Creation
This committee provides a foundation for Holy Name’s committment to the Ministry of Peace, Justice and the Integrity of Creation. It provides educational programs and service opportunities for the members of the parish. The committee works closely with our neighboring churches and the Franciscan Province of the Holy Name in exploring the wide range of issues of peace, social justice and the environment.
Our Peace, Justice and Integrity of Creation committee is working on the following coming events: a West Siders for Peace and Justice Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service, a Fair Trade event during Advent through Catholic Relief Services - to encourage parishioners to purchase fair trade products as Christmas gifts - Petitions regarding a ban on torture, and the annual Martin Luther King Day Peace Walk in January as a pledge drive to raise money to support Iraqi refugees.
